This French toast recipe may be a breakfast favorite. it's rich and flavorful, and therefore the different topping ideas make it fun for any day of the week!

I am an enormous believer during a hot breakfast. Whether it's an egg muffin, or a stack of fluffy pancakes, or waffles. But in my family, French toast reigns supreme. That or cinnamon rolls.

French toast isn't only for weekends. Make this easy French toast recipe any morning you would like each day brightener because this breakfast treat will certainly put a smile on your face. Say goodbye to soggy middles and hello to a delicious, fluffy French toast .

HOW DOES ONE MAKE THE RIGHT FRENCH TOAST?
French toast may be a breakfast favorite in our house. Drizzle French toast with delicious maple or buttermilk syrup or top with fruit and topping , regardless of how you wish to eat your French toast it truly may be a breakfast treat.

French toast doesn’t need to be a failed breakfast attempt and this French toast recipe produces the right French toast for the family.

French Toast Recipe

INGREDIENTS:

  • 6 slices challah bread
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1/3 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 Tbsp butter

Banna Fosters Topping:

  • 4 Tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 bananas firm
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon

Churros:

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tsps ground cinnamon

Buttermilk Syrup:

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 tsp corn syrup
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda

Other:

  • 1 cup whipped cream
  • 1 cup sliced strawberries

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Beat together egg, milk, salt, spices and vanilla.
  2. Heat a lightly oiled griddle or skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Dunk each slice of bread in egg mixture, soaking both sides, leave in egg mixture for at least 30 seconds.
  4. Heat a skillet (with a lid) over medium-high heat, and add half the butter.
  5. Place french toast in preheated pan, with butter, and cook on both sides until golden.
  6. Cover the pan with a lid between sides. This will cook the inside of the bread, making it less soggy
  7. Serve hot.

Bananas Foster Topping Directions:

  1. In a small skillet, melt the butter.
  2. Add the brown sugar and stir until dissolved into butter.
  3. Add banana slices to pan, stirring so they are covered in caramel sauce.
  4. Sprinkle a pinch of cinnamon.
  5. Bananas are done when they are warmed through.
  6. Pour bananas foster mixture over French Toast.

Churros Topping Directions:

  1. Mix cinnamon and sugar together in a shallow dish
  2. Remove the French toast from the pan and immediately dip in the cinnamon sugar, turning to coat completely.

Buttermilk Syrup:

  1. Combine all ingredients except baking soda in a saucepan
  2. Bring barely to a boil stirring the whole time
  3. Remove from heat
  4. Stir in baking soda, it will get frothy, but will settle down some
  5. Serve hot with fresh fruit and whipped cream over hot waffles.
